Job Description

Currently Liverpool has two acute Hospital trusts operating over 4 sites; Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (AUHFT) and Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital (RLBUHT) which also looks after Liverpool University Dental Hospital.

The trusts, who have a history of collaborative working to fit the needs of the patients of Liverpool and the North West, have identified additional ways to improve the quality and sustainability of services through further partnership. Our doctors, nurses and health professionals have developed a consistent clinical view that it would be in the best interest of patients if they worked as single clinical teams, delivering the same standards of care, in the same way, across hospital sites. This has led to a proposal to for both organisations to come together as one, through a formal merger.

It is an exciting time of change for our trusts as we take the best of both organisations to deliver outstanding care for our patients. We also have a focus on staff, with an ambition to make the new organisation the best place for staff to train and work. Merger brings with it an opportunity to reconfigure services, provide more diverse opportunities for career development and attract more research funding, leading to enhancement of staff skills by delivering and performing more innovative treatments and taking part in clinical trials. Joining the trusts at this time is an opportunity to be involved in one of the most significant changes we will see in the local health service and to drive improvements in care.

Rotational Physiotherapist

Band 5

Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Band 5 Physiotherapy rotations at Aintree University Hospital.

Based in the City of Liverpool, employees at Aintree University Hospital are ideally located to benefit from the vibrant and fast paced social aspects of the city with its famous warm welcomes and unique attractions, exciting events, world class sport and excellent, broad musical heritage. The Aintree Trust site has accommodation to offer and is located only a short distance from the city centre with excellent transport links.

As the Major Trauma Centre for Cheshire, Merseyside and the Isle of Man, we can offer rotations in patient rotations in Major Trauma, Orthopaedics, A&E, Frailty as well as Medicine / Surgery, Aintree to Home, Stroke and Elderly Acute and Rehab. Community rotations include our Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team and Aintree at Home which is our community outreach discharge team. Hydrotherapy and MSK are also included in our out-patient rotations. The available rotations will allow you to consolidate your knowledge and skills across a broad range of clinical areas and locations in a forward thinking, supportive and dynamic environment, alongside other skilled Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Speech and Language Therapists, Assistant Practitioners and Generic Therapy Assistants. Aintree also works in collaboration with trusts across the region as part of the Cheshire and Merseyside major trauma network and Cheshire and Merseyside rehabilitation network.

The Band 5 Physiotherapists work as part of the wider Integrated Multi-Therapies Service at Aintree which provides the opportunity to be involved in service development and leadership within a wider therapy team. As a teaching hospital there is a strong commitment to continuing professional development supported by the Trust’s COMPASS appraisal system. You will bring the drive to develop yourself, your colleagues and your service in this post. Newly qualified Therapists will also benefit from undertaking the Trusts’ Preceptorship Training Programme which covers skills across both Nursing and AHP’s.

This 12 month Preceptorship Programme LEAP (Learn, Excel and become an Aintree Professional) is an innovative programme, led by a multi-professional team of educators with a proven ability to be able to coach and mentor. Utilising your Aintree Preceptorship portfolio and by attending the programme, you can enhance your clinical expertise, master complex concepts, sharpen your critical thinking ability, promote career advancements and develop your leadership potential. In addition, your programme will provide you with further skills including quality improvement, resilience and mindfulness.

There will be a requirement to work across a 7 day service within the rotations, across various sites and also to participate in the respiratory on-call service.

*Please note, applications from new Graduates due to qualify in 2019 will be considered for these posts to work as a Band 4 until receipt of their Professional Registration with the HCPC*
