Process Development Chemist required, based in Merseyside. Requiring a (minimum) degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and ideally some industrial experience of supporting chemical batch manufacturing processes on plant. Knowledge or qualifications in Lean Six-Sigma beneficial.

Location: Merseyside

Salary: £28,500 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

SRG is working with a well-respected chemicals & materials manufacturer, who have a real focus on sustainability and innovation. Building on 40 years of consistent growth, they are now looking to hire a Process Development Chemist to join the team. Based predominantly in Merseyside, this role will also include travel to sites across Europe and Asia, supporting the development and optimisation of chemical manufacturing processes as well as providing technical support and troubleshooting. It would be fantastic opportunity for a degree-qualified Chemist or Chemical Engineer, who has experience of process development or support in a manufacturing environment. Any understanding of Lean Six Sigma methodology would be highly advantageous.

Benefits: Key technical role, working as part of a small team and involving travel to European and Asian manufacturing sites (~30% of the time). Training provided. Standard working hours: 40 hours/ week, 8.30am - 5pm, Mon-Fri, with flexibility required when travelling. Role / Description

Developing new processes for manufacturing, application and curing of binding agents on component materials
Optimising the current processes to reduce manufacturing costs, improve product quality, and enhance efficiency
Running manufacturing trials, analysing and reporting on results of trials with statistical analysis
Implementing developments and improvements across all plants as necessary
Reporting and presenting on process performance (KPIs) and new process developments across all plants
Supporting the development of new product technologies, with occasional lab work to test physical properties of raw materials
Investigating and troubleshooting issues which arise with manufacturing, application or curing processes
Supporting new plant construction, upgrades or modifications as needed with technical input


Minimum degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related
Industrial experience involving process development or providing technical support in a chemical manufacturing/plant environment
Operational knowledge/understanding or qualifications in Lean Six-Sigma highly advantageous
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Able to manage multiple projects and priorities
Willing and able to travel
