Job Description

Psychological Well being Practitioner - PWP (Band 5) - Lancashire.

Full time
Mon - Fri
9AM - 5PM (may vary)

We are currently recruiting for PWP's to work with are NHS Partners in the North West. This is a full time role and the ideal candidate can start immediately, please note that the role is temporary, and is agency based contract work, although there is the possibility of a Permanent contract in the future.

The candidate will be fully trained through the relevant IBT approved course. You will have experience of working as a PWP - ideally in an NHS environment, and it would be very beneficial if you have worked with IAPT teams providing care and support to clients with low/moderate levels of depression/anxiety etc. You will be able to work with caseload in a team environment, communicating efficiently with different services to achieve the best results.

You will have trained and provided therapies using the following modules;
•behavioural activation
•exposure therapy
•cognitive restructuring
•medication support
•problem solving
•panic management
•sleep hygiene

Useful Skills for the Job
•Advanced communication and listening skills
•Empathy and the ability to deal with people with different backgrounds and needs.
•Problem solving, decision making and time management skills
•IT skills for recording information
•Report writing and presentation skills
•How to apply your knowledge of low-intensity therapeutic interventions to clinical problems

Tasks and day to day work
•Assessing clients to see if they'll benefit from therapy, and what type of therapy
•Assessing clients and compiling risk assessments - self harm or danger to others etc.
•discussing therapy plans with clients, focusing on what they want to change
•Referring clients for more intensive therapy if required
•encouraging clients to talk about feelings and behaviour
•setting 'homework' for clients to do
•helping clients practise the changes you've discussed
•providing group sessions
•checking clients' progress
•providing advice to other health professionals
•talking to family members
•keeping accurate records
•following data protection and confidentiality rules
