Job Description

We are looking for applicants that are:

All we need you to have is:

  • Qualified Paramedic with current HCPC registration.

  • A full valid UK driving licence (including Category B and Category C1 – over 3500kg with no more than 3 points. (You must have as a minimum a Provisional C1 on your licence in order for your application to be shortlisted). The Trust motor insurers need to review each case of any applicants who had had their driving licence removed following a Dangerous Driving or Drink or Drugs offence for a minimum period of 5 years from when their licence is reinstated. Before we can consider offering a role.

  • Able to commit to a 2 week (full-time) and 2 day driving training course programme (paid) and on-going shift work.

  • Committed to staff welfare and support e.g. Team working with a named Team Leader, Clinical Mentor & Specialist Practitioner, access to Optum, Occupational Health, TRiM, Health & Well-being initiatives, Mind Blue-Light project, Pubwatch campaign, Inappropriate use campaign

  • Investing in staff development through mandatory and non-mandatory training to continue your professional development e.g. Winter workshops for head injury assessment, paediatrics, mentoring and joint training with other emergency services, hospitals, GPsand the opportunity to apply for other educational qualifications

  • Recognising staff achievements e.g. Ambies awards, commendations, newsletters celebrating staff initiatives

The finer details:

  • The 2 week training programme, whilst you’ll be paid, is not residential so you will need to be able to get to the venue and back on your own.

  • Should you be what we are looking for and successfully shortlisted then you will be invited to an assessment centre, these are usually based at either our following locations: Newbury (Berkshire) or Northern House (Bicester, Oxfordshire).

  • All successful candidates who are offered a job with us will have to undertake employment checks as part of our recruitment process, including, an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Baring Service) check, which SCAS will fund, clearance from our Occupational Health department, references, ID and right to work verification.

  • Our vacancies are across the SCAS wide area, therefore you will be asked to complete a location preference form at interview stage, which we will take into account your preferences on where you wish work, and best match this to our available vacancies at the time. We can’t guarantee placing you in your first preference but we will do very our best.
