In Poole x-ray department, we offer all new starters a structured program focusing on three core developments;
The RDP provides radiographers the opportunity to undertake a structured program of self-development in all aspects of the x-ray including audit, equipment and techniques. This is actively supported by in-house run CPD sessions and the opportunity to attend external training/learning events. Poole radiology is very pro-active endorsing CPD, with a number of education events supported by the department available for staff to enrol on.
Poole Hospital x-ray department is almost completely digital radiography (DR). Our two busy Emergency Department (ED) x-ray rooms are state-of-the-art Philips DigitalDiagnost modalities, installed in 2017 to support the high demand of our area. Our general rooms have a mixture of Samsung and Fuji DR. Mobile examinations are performed using Carestream DR Revolution’s. New dental equipment is currently being installed with the potential for CBCT in the future.
The x-ray department also supports very busy trauma theatres with a number of image intensifier units. In addition to orthopaedic demands, we also provide theatre radiography for ERCP, cardiac pacing and other general cases.
Poole x-ray department operates a 24/7 service supported by a fully implemented shift system which successful candidates will actively participate in. Duties are no longer the 8 hours in length. The radiology department supports university placements for training student radiographers, with intakes from both Exeter and Portsmouth Universities.
Successful radiographers joining the x-ray team will also have the opportunity to rota through our CT department.
