Job Description

Registered Manager - Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire

Salary: £32,000 to £40,000per annum (depending on experience)

The Company

Our well established client is a Children's Care Home provider. They are looking to recruit an experienced Registered Manager who will be managing one of their homes. They are also looking to recruit a very experienced registered manager who could take on a “Dual” role whereby they would be managing two of their homes.

The Role

Your role will include working corporately, collaboratively and in keeping with the ethos and values of the children’s Care Company and management team. To ensure that the Home meets the standards and expectations of its Statement of Purpose. To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and to ensure that the quality of care provided is consistent with the Children Homes Regulations and the Quality Standards.


Manage the day to day running of the children's home
Ensuring the highest quality of care are delivered at all times
Managing your team and homes budgets
Ensuring that all current legislation is met and exceeded
Develop and maintain key relationships with children, staff parents and professionals.
Be aware and safeguard young people's emotional and physical wellbeing
Lead the home through all Ofsted inspections
To establish and maintain a competent, motivated and confident staff team and to offer leadership, managerial direction, guidance and support to staff at all levels.
To ensure that the Home’s policies and procedures are adhered to and that resources are managed effectively.
To provide leadership, guidance and management to the other staff.
To be responsible for the deployment and control of staff on a day-today basis, including reporting of issues of performance to line management.
To be involved in the recruitment, monitoring, training, retention and mentoring as necessary.
To develop systems for the efficient administration of the Home and to ensure that the fabric of the Home, equipment, appliances and grounds are maintained to the highest order in accordance with Health and Safety requirements.
To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints.
To liaise with Local Authorities, School, Health and other professionals to achieve best outcomes for young people.
To actively promote the Home’s equal opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice policies.
To manage physical, financial and human resources effectively
Working in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people
Attending and contributing to child care planning and review meetings as appropriate
To ensure key stages in the stay of children and young people such as admission and discharge are properly managed, and reflect decisions recorded in care plans.
To ensure that children facing particular crisis and stresses are offered appropriate additional support, and to ensure that staff are supported in dealing with the most complex cases.
To participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of individual children’s care plan
Ensuring that each young person has a plan which reflects his / her care, education, social, emotional, cultural, and therapeutic and health needs and that this plan is regularly reviewed.

Key Skills:

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills
Interpersonal and effective supervision skills
Will have the ability to cope with and remain calm in challenging and demanding situations
Be flexible to meet the needs of the home as many circumstances are unpredictable and varied


Be registered with Ofsted
Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care or equivalent
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent
Prior experience being registered with Ofsted as a Registered Manager
Strong knowledge of Ofsted and relevant legislation
Valid Driving License
