Job Description

JOB TITLE: RN REGISTERED NURSE

Location-KT15 ADDLESTONE

REPORTS TO: Service Manager

PURPOSE OF ROLE:FIG LAKE HEALTHCARE IS RECRUITING FOR OUR CLIENT-A RGN,RN-

As a Registered nurse professional then you will be required to work in a Nursing Home or Care home for day or night shifts only.

The underlying purpose is to provide the highest possible nursing care for a range of client groups i.e. elderly, Mental Health or Learning Disability..

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely provide compassionate nursing care and support that is centred on the individual needs and wishes of each service user.
  • Respect service users choices and promote their dignity at all times.
  • Report any changes or causes for concern to management promptly.

MAIN DUTIES:

Duties will centre of provision of nursing core duties which are likely to include:

Care and Support

Follow instructions in the care and support plan which has been agreed with each service user. This may include:

Leadership

  • Leading a shift of carers, so ensuring high quality care is being provided in line with individual service users needs and wishes.
  • Medication Management
  • Medication administration
  • Ordering medication
  • Returning unwanted medicines to the pharmacy for safe disposal
  • Undertaking medication auditing
  • Nursing tasks
  • Wound dressing
  • PEG Feeds
  • Blood Sugar Monitoring
  • Catheter Care
  • Nebuliser Management
  • Safely using aids and personal equipment in a manner that respects the dignity of service users. For example
  • Standing and walking frames
  • Wheelchairs, manual and electric hoists
  • Sliding sheets and moving boards
  • Hearing aids and other physical aids
  • Social and physical activities or mental stimulation such as
  • Answering the door and greeting visitors
  • Answering emergency bells and the telephone
  • Writing cards and letters or emails
  • Taking a service user out shopping, to see their friends or to other activities
  • Hobbies and recreations such as reading, photo albums, games, etc
  • Supporting a service user through temporary and terminal illness, including

  • Liaising with community health support and families

Recording and Reporting:

  • Record and report all relevant service user information including:
  • The care and support that you provide and assistance with medicines
  • Changes to a service users condition or other concerns
  • Faulty equipment or hazards in the home
  • Response to emergencies, accidents and incidents
  • Safeguarding matters
  • Contact with families or carers and other professionals
  • Other matters as required by individual care providers policies and procedures
  • Audits
  • Handover and care plan updates
  • Risk Management updates
  • Keep all information about customers and their families secure and confidential

Experience and Skills

Suitable nursing qualifications, registration on the Nursing & Midwifery Council register and a clean record.

At least 1 year of nursing experience

Ability to give nursing care to service users with aspects of their care in a manner that respects their dignity, is non- judgmental and promotes their independence, choices and privacy

Ability to listen, communicate clearly and build positive working relationships with service users, their families and health care professionals

Good organisational skills, so customers receive the services they expect

Ability to use own initiative and work alone or as part of a team especially in an emergency

Additional Requirements

Commitment to respecting service users rights at all times including their rights to privacy, dignity and independence

Willingness to undertake training. All staff are expected to meet regulatory training standards

This role will require you to obtain an Enhanced satisfactory clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure

Desirable criteria

Level 1 Nursing Qualification

Nursing Personal Development up to date in line with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements

Previous experience as a nurse & you must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Knowledge of how to recognise abuse and safeguarding procedures

Working knowledge of health and safety matters relating to care settings

Flexible approach to working
