Regulatory Manager – Food Industry
Salary: £50-62,000 + benefits
As an individual contributor, the function of the UK Regulatory Affairs Manager is to provide solutions based support for the organisation on behalf of the regulatory department to ensure efficient and compliant business processes and environment. The individual will execute projects of work and play a consultative role by partnering across multiple business functions including marketing and R&D. Working across a broad portfolio of food products within an innovative R&D function this position will lead or support regulatory projects and acts independently to identify and resolve problems. Applies advanced regulatory expertise to guide cross-functional partners and demonstrates strategic thinking and creativity in support of programs.
Prepares robust regulatory applications to achieve departmental and organisational objectives
Lead strategic, complex projects impacting systemic business functions and processes
Serve as cross-divisional liaison on identified initiatives. lead project teams. serve as change agent
Drives cross functional alignment with issues that could have Regulatory ramifications
Builds strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives
Develop new regulatory policies, processes and SOPs and train key personnel on them. Develop, implement and manage for the UK, Ireand and some parts of EMEA
Monitor impact of changing regulations update internal stakeholders
Evaluate regulations/guidelines/standards changes for potential impact. Properly interpret and apply regulatory requirements
Coordinate and manage assessment regulations/guidelines/standards changes
Identify emerging issues
Assesses proposed regulations and communicates new requirements to the organisation
Monitor trade association and compliance authorities positions for impact on company products and build relationships with these external bodies
Plans and organises project assignments of substantial variety and complexity
Supports all business segment initiatives from a regulatory perspective and is a key partner of the internal departmental structure
Work is performed without appreciable direction and exercises some latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
Must function both collaboratively and independently as a decisionmaker on regulatory issues, and must assure that deadlines are met
Interfaces with a variety of management levels on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organisational units
Understands business environment and relates extensive knowledge of internal and external activities to trends
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, Regulatory, or related field, and progressive experience managing food safety and regulatory compliance in a branded goods environment.
Deep, demonstrated knowledge of food safety standards and regulations governing the grocery industry in a branded food or beverages innovation environment
Experience of working with government bodies and trade association to ensure the organisation is ahead in terms of compliance and future proofing the organisation and the products
Extensive knowledge of UK and international food and beverage regulations and their applications.
Self-motivation with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements and using data to measure performance.
Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team, including adherence to core values and dynamic corporate culture.
