Job Description

Relief Support Worker (BANK)

Wigan

£8.30 an hour

Ref: ASNB472412

What a heart - warming feeling it is to bring a smile to another's face. But do you know what lasts longer than a smile? The feeling of supporting and empowering people with learning disabilities and autism to live a life that makes sense to them.

Seeing the difference that YOU can make. Now that IS rewarding….

We are seeking experienced and non - experienced Relief Support Workers to join our home in Wigan.

How Relief works

The Relief (Bank) post will support the permanent rota staff by completing shifts that are vacant due to annual leave/sickness/training/unforeseen vacancies. As such, hours are non specific but the service will endeavour to balance the needs of the service against your own work/life balance as appropriately as possible.

Outline of Role

You will be assisting 3 adults with learning disabilities (aged between mid 30s to mid 60s) with a range of activities from the everyday living needs and 'must dos' (such as assisting with attending health and medical appointments, cleaning and cooking etc), through to the lighter side of life doing things like becoming involved with the local community, visiting family and friends, horse riding, going to the cinema, swimming and much more!

Normal working shifts are on a rota basis covering 38 hours per week over days, evenings, weekends (incl Bank holidays) and sleep-ins. The night shift will be more about being an emotional reassurance.

About us

We are an Award winning Charity that has the core belief that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community. We use a person centered approach to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using a Positive Behaviour Support strategy ensures we see the person first, not their disability.

What we need from you

Firstly, you don't need experience to become a Relief Support Worker but it's not easy. The work can be demanding and challenging at times but no 2 days are the same and the reward of seeing YOUR personal impact is incredibly inspiring and it's something you'll never forget. As long as you have the passion and drive to want to make a real difference, we'll teach you the rest. With your key attributes and our training, together we can deliver the best possible support.

*You must be a driver aged 25+ with a manual licence, purely for insurance purposes as you will be required to drive the mobility vehicle.
