Safeguarding Specialist Practitioner required for a full-time position in the Yorkshire area!

Children's Safeguarding Specialist Practitioner


£28 per hour (negotiable)
Location: Wakefield

HAYS Healthcare are proudly recruiting on behalf of an NHS trust in Yorkshire. We are looking to fill a vacancy for a specialist practitioner with paediatric safeguarding experience.


As a safeguarding specialist practitioner your role with involve:


  • Develop and maintain robust policy and procedures for safeguarding which are compliant with legislation, statutory and regulatory requirements and best practice.

  • Lead the Trust wide training and education package for safeguarding

  • Provide assurance to the Trust Board that safeguarding practice, education and reporting is compliant with all contractual and statutory requirements.

  • To be the single point of contact with the commissioning body and the designated nurses for children and adults and to represent the Trust externally on matters of safeguarding.

  • Support and advise the Trust Board in conjunction with other Named and Designated Professionals where appropriate.

  • To act as an expert source of advice for staff, partner organisations and the general public.

  • Manage the safeguarding risk register, escalating as appropriate

  • Advise Police, Social Care and other agencies on health matters with regard to the Trusts' remit.

  • Assist with the collection of data in serious case reviews and developing the chronology and IMR for each case.

  • Actively manage the appropriate budgets, ensure as a minimum that financial balance is achieved and provide the Deputy

    Director of Quality & Nursing

    with monthly reports on financial activity.

  • To recognise and report to the appropriate authorities any concerns regarding Child Protection issues to include possible child abuse.


The successful candidate will be:

A registered nurse with safeguarding experience. Ideally working with adults and children.


  • Be able to commit to a full time, Monday - Friday, 9-5 working hours. In exceptional circumstances, weekends may be necessary.

  • Happy to work in an office / call centre - environment.

  • Good IT skills are essential as you are required to triage and operate a computer at the same time.
