Job Description

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is one of the world’s leading cancer research centres. The Trust works in partnership with The Institute of Cancer Research to produce high quality research, translational studies and clinical trials with the aim of developing better treatments for the benefit of cancer patients worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for a band 7 research nurse to work within a proactive, dynamic and growing team of research nurses, trial managers, assistant practitioners, specimen coordinators and data managers/clinical trial administrators based within the Haemato-Oncology Research Unit across our Sutton and Chelsea branches.

The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of early and late phase clinical trials associated with complex haematological malignancies. Responsibilities will include coordination of care of patients on trials/studies; collection, processing and preparation of biological samples; collection, management and oversight of trial data; the supervision of administration of experimental agents and monitoring of the expected and unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities.
Educating participants and colleagues about the studies is essential to the role. The post holder will be expected to build upon their specialised skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of research and clinical trials, the therapies and the relevant diseases.

Candidates must have relevant research experience, and a proven track record of working successfully within a multidisciplinary research team. A strong nursing background with significant experience and skills in clinical research as well as a desire to develop others are required for this post, but in return opportunities for further professional development will be available.

We can also consider flexible working arrangements if required such as part-time hours and job shares.
