Senior Scientist / Team Leader - Molecular Biology - Cambridge
This role offers the chance to develop a team of scientists, within an excellent biotech company in Cambridge that are looking to grow their team. They have developed a portfolio of products that include a variety of iPSC's, and associated cell culture reagents. Senior Scientist Role:
We are looking for an experienced and talented Senior Scientist, who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of Scientists, to assist in the manufacturing of a range of iPSC's. Your role will be multi-faceted, and will range from managing the team, ensuring product manufacturing to quality standards, to dealing with external clients.
Oversee the production & services team in day to day running of projects and manufacturing
Mentor and develop a culture which includes honesty, transparency and openness and teamwork
Develop & drive a robust Quality and Continuous Improvement culture
Ensure Laboratories & Equipment are always in a clean & tidy manner including calibration
Aid maintenance & improvement in product reliability and consistency using improved innovative QC testing, technical transfer, and validation systems.
Use initiative and proactively identify and suggest areas of improvement
Labour Utilisation is maximised in terms of capacity planning to meet customer demands
Coordinating with Project Management to ensure service projects keep to key milestones and manufacturing products are made to specification in a consistent cost-effective manner
Ensure technical transfer of products from R&D to operations is undertaken in alignment to design control relating to the current Quality System
Senior Scientist Requirements:
Possess a PhD in Cell Biology, Stem Cell Biology (or related field)
5+ years' experience in a commercial environment, culturing primary cells/cell lines (ideally hiPSC's)
Knowledge of some of the following; cell-based assays, immunocytochemistry, PCR, MEA or Gene Editing
Driven by scientific excellence, with strong attention to details and organisational skills
Hands-on experience in collaborative project management
Be a keen team player who will enjoy working at the interface of the wider science team to support the company's cell line development efforts
Enjoy leading and managing a team, including cultural change
Are comfortable and used to working to tight timelines and managing workload and priorities.
