Senior Oncology Nurse Oncology Outpatients (Donor Support) Central London Permanent, FT - 37.5 hrs Up to £43,000 Are you an experienced Oncology Nurse looking for a new challenge? Client Information: Our client is one of the oldest Hospitals, located in the heart of London, specialising in Medical and Surgical care. They have several units spanned across two prestigious areas of London focused on providing world-class treatment to their patients. They have an expansive team of consultants who are supported by expertly qualified nurses offering care in various specialities. Opportunities: We are currently looking to recruit Senior Oncology Nurses to work in the Oncology and Haematology Outpatient department of the hospital. In this role you will work as a Donor Support Nurse, providing comprehensive care and support for patients undergoing peripheral stem cell collection.
Reporting into the ward manager as a Senior Oncology Nurse you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of care to patients. You will encapsulate the ethos of the hospital supporting patients through their journey. Part of your day to day will involve cannulation, phlebotomy, managing peripheral & central IV devices and the delivery of chemotherapy. You will take direct referrals in accordance with the apheresis service guidelines and assess, treat and refer patients to other members of the clinical team as required. Part of your role as a Senior Oncology Nurse will also involve ensuring pre-collection patient/donor evaluation is complete for autologous and allogeneic stem cell collections and you will also coordinate donor follow up checks.A vital part of your role will be ensuring you provide clinical leadership to all members of staff on the shift. You will have an extensive knowledge of oncology condition and the ability to recognise emergencies in adequate time. You will also play a key role in the planning and implementation of new policies and procedures in line with current practices in Oncology care. Part of your role as a senior member of staff will also be to ensure that documentation is kept up to date and accurate.
Skills Required: To be considered for this role as a Senior Oncology Nurse you will have at experience of working in oncology nursing. You will have completed a chemotherapy course and have at least 1 year experience of apheresis. Working as a senior staff nurse you will be required to be a good team leader to junior members of staff and the ability to take control of shift when required. You will be a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure. Working as part of a team you will have excellent communication skills and be a good team player.
