An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy team at Caswell Clinic, Bridgend. The Post Holder will form part of the South Wales Forensic Mental Health Occupational Therapy Service based at The Caswell Clinic.
The successful applicant would work flexibly to the needs of the service, across the wards at Caswell Clinic supporting the Occupational Therapy department in carrying out the valued role of the OT ensuring that in-patients are offered timely assessment and intervention.
We are looking for an excellent communicator who will form part of a multi-disciplinary team and is able to assist in the provision of patient centred programme of therapeutic interventions for individuals and groups that experience mental health problems and related risk difficulties, both within the clinic and the community.
The post includes the delivery of Occupational Therapy interventions aimed at reducing offending behaviour by developing patient occupational performance, independence and personal autonomy.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Manage a defined caseload using evidence based and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions in both hospital and community settings.
Apply concepts of the management of mentally disordered offenders to all patient related activities, including clinical risk assessment and management.
Ensure that public protection and the integrity of the unit is maintained by adhering to related policies and procedures
Participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in on-going developmental activities.
Provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff and students
