£29,057 - £36,134 p.a. inc. pro rata

Job Description

A Vacancy at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Hackney is a great place to start your career. We have a great reputation for the both the services we offer and the support we provide to our staff.

We have a high quality, comprehensive service to children, young people and families. We work wherever children and young people are including: Children’s Centres, Early Years settings, nurseries, mainstream primary and secondary schools, colleges, special schools, child development service and school bases (developmental language disorder and ASD). All Speech and Language Therapy posts are locality team based and strong multi-disciplinary links exist across agencies.

The posts on offer will be in mainstream schools. Your role will be link therapist to a small number of mainstream schools in Hackney and potentially one school in another borough. The service has successfully secured contracts in some schools in neighbouring boroughs. Candidates’ preferences will be taken into account where possible. The service employs over 70 staff and so opportunities arise frequently and staff are deployed flexibly to meet changing need.

We are proud to be able to offer staff contingency and development time. This gives staff the flexibility to meet the needs of schools as well as protected time to access CPD and think about their own development.

The service has developed the largest and most comprehensive traded services offer in the UK, and as a result attracts a high percentage of direct school funding. School commissions are on an annual basis and as a result these staff contracts are also. We are proud to be commissioned by health, education and schools and colleges in Hackney and out of borough as well as Youth Justice and Virtual Schools. We have a strong relationship with schools and alternative providers and are growing in traded services.

Hackney is one of the world’s most diverse communities and so a willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment is essential.

Posts are based on 37.5 hours a week. We embrace flexible working and will consider applicants who wish to work part-time. If at all interested we strongly suggest that you call or email to discuss these posts.

Although this post is short term the funding is anticipated to continue, and as a large service frequently other opportunities arise, including internal promotions when available. As an inner London post your salary will include Inner London Weighting.
