Northampton General Hospital

Acute Paediatric Unit

We have the following vacancy for a full time band 5 staff nurse:

  • Band 5 Staff Nurses Paediatric Assessment Unit: 11.5hr shifts between 9am and 10pm 7 days per week but no rotation to night duty

We are currently recruiting registered nurses to join our committed and forward thinking team in our busy paediatric assessment unit. If you are confident, motivated and willing to learn new skills and extend your practice as opportunities arise, we would be excited to hear from you.

The Paediatric Assessment unit, adjacent to the wards, has 7 beds with additional space for ambulatory patients. The unit takes referrals from GPs and our A/E department. Children are either discharged home from the assessment area or admitted to one of the wards.

We are a busy paediatric unit with a 26 bedded medical ward with a 2 bed high dependency and a medical day case clinic. An 18 bedded surgical/oncology ward and a Neonatal intensive/special care unit.

We are proud to be the first UK hospital to achieve Pathway to Excellence. We have specific band 5 development programmes, and we are one of the first UK hospitals to introduce the Daisy Award, this is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful and compassionate care nurses provide every day.

Your personal and professional development opportunities would be supported by our practice development facilitator and clinical educators and consideration given to further training within the specialties we care for.

Our last CQC inspection found us to be good across all domains.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the [Click here to apply]

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
