Job Description

£24,214 - £30,112 per annum/pro rata (AfC Band 5)

37.5 hours per week - PERMANENT

We currently have vacancies for dynamic and enthusiastic children’s nurses to join our well established team on the children’s ward. The ward is an acute inpatient facility with 20 beds caring for children with a wide variety of medical, surgical and orthopaedic conditions. The ward works in collaboration with the Children’s Assessment Unit with the opportunity to work in both areas expected.

We offer a comprehensive preceptorship and Induction programme to support those new to the role to ensure you have the right start at the right time.

It is an exciting time for paediatric services at Barnsley NHS Foundation Trust. The service is transforming both its inpatient and assessment services to deliver the gold standard care the children of Barnsley and surrounding areas deserve.

The co-location of the Children’s Assessment Unit in a new build unit within the Emergency department is progressing at a fast pace and the re-modelling of our inpatient services planned for late 2020 will offer fantastic rotational opportunities.

DBS charges for adverts placed from 1st June are as follows:


Standard Check:    £26.00 + Administration cost of £3.69 = deduction from salary as a one off payment

Enhanced Check:  £44.00 + administration cost of £3.69 = £14.69 deduction from 1st months salary, £11.00 deduction from salary over following 3 months.
