Blackpool Fylde and Wyre NHS Foundation trust is a busy acute hospital, treating more than 80,000 day case and in patients last year.

The Surgical Directorate in June 2011 opened Phase VI which will is a purpose built state of the art building encompassing theatres and wards. The Surgical Admissions Unit (SAU) currently has a vacancy for a Staff Nurse. This is an internal rotational vacancy. We are looking for flexible, enthusiastic team player who has excellent communication skills and is committed to helping to deliver first class care. In exchange we offer the chance to work in a supportive environment where a full induction will be given

* SAU comprises of 17 beds 1 treatment room and 6 comfortable chairs in a waiting area. SAU assess Surgical, Urology and Gynaecology patients. The unit is operational 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Referrals are received from The General Practitioner / Urgent Care Centre, Accident and Emergency and Referral from Consultant in the Out Patients Clinic.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £23+£4 (standard disclosure) or £40+£4 (enhanced disclosure) can be deducted from salary, in manageable monthly installments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.

Applicants are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service, which will save the cost of repeated disclosures between employers, in return for a annual registration fee of £13.
