Job Description

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 11,500 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley.




This is a great opportunity to earn whilst you learn to develop your skills and knowledge in a hands on role; whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

Your working week is Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm. 30 hours in the workplace and 7.5 hours off the job training.

As a Student Dental Nurse you will provide chair-side support within the dental hospital across a range of departments and specialties. These will include:

  • Children’s & Adults Dentistry for both emergency and ongoing procedures
  • Oral Surgery this will include working with patients under sedation
  • Orthodontic Treatment
  • Community & Special Care providing an opportunity to work with patients that have special needs
  • Primary Dental Care this will provide you with experience of working in a general dental practice.

Once you have achieved your qualification you will be able to apply to the statutory register held by the General Dental Council (GDC).

To be eligible you will need to:

  • be over the age of 16 by the start date and not currently in full time education
  • be eligible to work in the United Kingdom
  • hold a GCSE qualification in Math and English at a level 4 or grade C or equivalent.
