The post of part time Support Worker has become available at Millers Multi-Purpose Day Services, Beverley.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a care environment including previous experience of working with adults with a learning disability, older people and /or individuals with onset of dementia. The role will include supporting people with personal care needs, administering medication safely and providing a keyworker role to a specific group of people. The successful candidate will be expected to use a computer for group preparation, reports and training etc.

The successful candidate may need to complete The Care Certificate on commencement of the post. This will be provided by the ERYC and will take approximately 12 weeks. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in care would be desirable. All other relevant training will be provided.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person, with the ability to plan and lead group activities. This would be in a variety of areas such as leisure, sport, health and wellbeing, educational and life skills, art and craft, IT skills, cookery and community activities. The successful person will be passionate about providing the best service possible. They will be proactive in helping people to maintain their independence and be able to respond positively to the changing needs of the people who use our service. Good time management and organisational skills will be an essential aspect of this post.

Candidates should have the necessary written and verbal communication skills to ensure that we are working to a high standard. Record keeping and report writing are an important part of the role. Training will be provided for this.

You will:

+ Be able to demonstrate compassion and empathy in your approach
+ Have experience of working in a care setting or other social care role
+ Be able to communicate well and develop rapport with people
+ Have an understanding of issues affecting vulnerable people
+ Be able to work flexibly and be able to travel to other day centres (if required)
+ Be able to respond positively to changing needs of clients and service
