The Radiotherapy Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is looking for an experienced Therapeutic Radiographer, confident in working in a fast paced multi-professional environment to take a lead role in treatment delivery activities in our busy department.
This post would be suitable for someone already working at this level, or for a specialist radiographer practitioner looking to develop their career in a leadership position.
This role offers a blend of advanced clinical practice and personnel management; you will have responsibility for professional clinical supervision and first-line managerial oversight of the superficial x-ray and linear accelerator teams, and provide support to the departmental Senior Leadership team.
You will have high standards of professional practice and be a role model for junior staff and pre-registration learners, leading by example to deliver the best possible service to our patients and their carers.
Treatment delivery equipment comprises seven clinical linear accelerators (all CBCT), APEX microMLC for stereotaxy and an Xstrahl superficial x-ray unit. The department also has 2 x Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT, AcQsim Virtual Simulation and Pinnacle Treatment Planning System with installation of Raystation underway.
The department is part of the North West Radiotherapy Operational Delivery Network and the Greater Manchester, Lancashire and South Cumbria Stereotactic Radiosurgery service (in partnership with Salford Royal NHS FT and The Christie NHS FT), is a commissioned SABR provider and provides clinical placements for pre-registration therapeutic radiography students from the University of Liverpool.

The Radiotherapy Department is on the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Royal Preston Hospital site. Preston has excellent road and rail links, being in easy reach of the M6 / M61 / M55 motorways and a key station on the West Coast mainline between London Euston and Glasgow / Edinburgh.

As a registered body with the DBS, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will conduct the administration of this application on your behalf and the cost will be recovered from your salary, either as a one-off payment or over 3 months. Currently the charges made by the Disclosure and Barring Service are - Standard DBS check £30.20 and Enhanced DBS check £48.20. The level of check required depends on the role that you have been offered.
