Job Description

Voyage Care is seeking Waking Night Support Workers, to provide support to individuals with Learning Disabilities, Autism and associated conditions at a new Supported Living Scheme in New Milton. Waking Night Support Workers provide person centred support and promote independence to enable the People we Support to lead fulfilling lives.

The service has off road parking for Support Workers who drive

Voyage Care ask that Waking Night Support Workers:

  • Work within the company's ethos of providing person centred care
  • Are compassionate and understanding
  • Are reliable and conscientious
  • Have a good understanding or written and spoken English and basic Mathematics
  • Are flexible in the shifts they can work (including; weekend work and public holidays)
  • Currently hold or are prepared to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

Previous experience in social care working with individuals with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Epilepsy (including Buccal) is desirable but not essential as full training is provided.

Roles undertaken by Waking Night Support Workers may include (but not be limited to):

  • Monitoring the scheme at regular intervals to ensure the safety of the People we Support.
  • Helping the People we Support with domestic chores (including cleaning and laundry).
  • Supporting the People we Support with any aspects of personal care required, ensuring to promote as much independence as possible. (Personal care may include: washing/bathing, dressing, continence care, using the toilet)
  • Prompting and administration of medication
  • Assisting the People we Support with their evening and morning routines
  • Helping the People we Support prepare meals
  • Completion of relevant paperwork including health and safety
